What to wear to your photoshoot

We want your portraits to feel timeless, natural, and relaxed. The best outfits are simple, comfortable, and don’t distract from your face or your connection with the people you’re with.

Use this guide to choose what to wear so your photos look their best.

Overall Style

Our portrait style is:

  • Clean

  • Timeless

  • Natural

  • Soft

  • Minimal

We recommend outfits that feel like “your best self” — polished but still true to you.

Colors That Photograph Best

Neutral and pastel tones generally look the most flattering in photos and keep the focus on you, not your clothes.

Best choices

  • Soft neutrals: beige, cream, ivory, taupe, light grey, tan

  • Pastels: blush pink, soft blue, sage green, dusty lavender

  • Classics: white or off‑white is always a safe option

Use with caution

  • Very bright or neon colors (they can reflect color onto your skin and be distracting)

  • Head‑to‑toe solid black (however, if you’re going for artsy, this can look cool!)

If you’re unsure, choosing light neutrals or pastels is almost always a great option.

Patterns, Textures, Logos, and Wearables

Great options

  • Solid colors

  • Subtle textures like linen, light denim, ribbed tees

Avoid

  • Bold stripes, busy prints, checkerboard patterns, or tiny high‑contrast patterns

  • Large logos, cartoon characters, and heavy graphics or text on clothing

  • Smart watches, fitness trackers, and other visible wearable tech

We kindly ask that you remove smart watches and fitness bands before your session so they don’t distract in close‑up portraits.

A good rule of thumb: if you can see the pattern or logo clearly from across the room, it’s probably too bold for your session.
